I noticed a few trends in my own Twitter activity that I thought I would share here. First off, why are companies now so interested in Twitter. Well, picture this. I am viewing tweets from a Ping Golf insider engineer type fellow. He travels around and talks about Ping Golf projects and tweets on some new wedges. He also tweets a few pics of these not yet released clubs and they strike my fancy. Talk about pre sales! Other companies tweet about their upcoming events or product releases and thousands of people have the inside scoop like I did with Ping. Now this is making sense right? Well it gets better, when you think about a company department perhaps tweeting about software release information, development activity, etc… The employees and the outsiders can stay informed on progress and the activities of the development group. Like RSS but better !

Oracle now running the Java platform, Redhat buys JBoss, developers less religious about languages, and the Agile thing. Go into any companies IT department and you will find developers/drones providing coding services directed by some person with a vision of what tools to use. Everyone seems to think they are Agile, when perhaps 50% really are. In my opinion the industry is more like a buffet of products, methodologies, and frameworks that provide mostly the same things. Life was more simple 10 years ago, at least for making platform decisions. These days life is more exciting with the constant churning waters and ever evolving tools and technologies.
